ABOUT Plate 81

This is the largest platter I've made so far! The challenge with flat pieces is that the larger they are, they more prone to cracking and warping during the drying and firing stages. To help prevent these issues, I slow down the drying rate as much as possible. This platter was covered in plastic wrap on a flat piece of drywall board for 1 month. Then, I opened the plastic wrap and let the piece dry completely before its first firing.

Firing: High fire oxidation

Clay: Bmix

Made with glazes at Echo art studio

20" long x 13" wide
