This was one of the first large plates I made. Plates are challenging because they have to be dried slowly. If they dry too fast, the clay pushes to the center, creating a hump because the clay dries faster from the outer edge due to greater surface area. There is a slight hump in this plate, indicating that I let it dry more quickly than I should have.
